God: The Father

Updated: Oct 8

Some know God as the “Creator”. Some know God as the “Most High”. Some even know God as “YHWH”. However, many of us, although we may have heard, forget “God the Father”. And this is the most underrated and least understood of the concepts. I can know God has a name. I can know God created the heavens and the earth. Yet, how well do I understand that God is OUR FATHER.

Why is this so important when it comes to the God head? Because when one thinks on a level of “creator” and “creation”paradigm, it isolates certain features that only pertain to that side of the spectrum. Causing you to shift your mindset or focus to that frame of thinking. Think of it like coworkers vs friends. What is the difference in the role they play in your life? And how do you view the two? You will notice that the relationship and all that it entails of is different, although some similarities may be present.

The same can be said about God the Creator and God the Father and the role he plays in our life. Consider the fact that although God created all that you see (and can’t see) from the other nations to the angels, yet he only chose Israel for his sons and daughters.

Romans 8:16-17 KJVS

[16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

When you think of God the Father you then naturally begin to identify and correlate yourself with being a child of God. And the relationship dynamic begins to shift to a parent/ child relationship. So what may have seemed distant or disconnected, now has become personal and humanely intimate.

Isaiah 48:17-18 KJVS

[17] Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. [18] O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

As God being a father he wants us to know that he is the one who will come through for us. He will save us and help us. Howbeit he will also teach us, guide us and protect us. But you have to listen and follow through with his instruction. If you don’t listen, then you water down the other benefits that he offers. And then at some point in time judgment must follow.

Proverbs 3:11-12 KJVS

[11] My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord ; neither be weary of his correction: [12] For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

These judgements are a sign of his love; they are punishements, yet they are not punishements. They are judgements, yet they are not judgements. They are corrections from the Father to his children based on their words and actions. That through these things they will in faith, “go and sin no more”, or at least offend less. So that he as a Father may have joy in your latter end. That he may see you righteously mature into his sons and daughters. And ultimately see you reach your full godly potential. That you may be as he is.

1 Peter 5:6-7 KJVS

[6] Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: [7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Looking at it from this perspective you learn to appreciate his love in all forms. As he cares for you. He is not simply a Creator/ Destroyer type power. That I am looking for your downfall to hurt you at any wrong move you make.  But rather I am here to guide your steps and help you make adjustments to keep you on the right track. Not everyone appreciates that.

Hebrews 12:5-8 KJVS

[5] And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: [6] For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? [8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

You must recondition your mind gradually to look at things through this window and accept his love. That someone takes responsibility for you and is looking after your needs and seeing you are successful in what you are righteously trying to do and executing righteousness in all you do.

Job 5:17-27 KJVS

[17] Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: [18] For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. [19] He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. [20] In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. [21] Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. [22] At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth. [23] For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. [24] And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. [25] Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. [26] Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season. [27] Lo this, we have searched it, so it is ; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

When you understand this you begin to come into the fullness of his love and his power. Yes, some fear may come in but that fear should be exemplified in respect and reverence toward him for choosing to bestow that manner of love towards us. And give you the confidence to walk in the fullness of his love.

Jeremiah 31:7-11 KJVS

[7] For thus saith the Lord ; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. [8] Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. [9] They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. [10] Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. [11] For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

And just as he has always done he will come through in the end.

Job 36:22 KJVS

[22] Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
