Do it for the Lord

Updated: Oct 9

Do you feel like your work is overlooked? Do you feel like your work may be unappreciated? Do you ever question if your labor is reaching its intended audience or gaining meaningful traction? Do you ever feel like what’s the point sometimes? Well, you’re not alone, welcome to the club. Have a seat, let me get you something.

It can go without saying that each of us at some point in time regardless of physical age, spiritual age, position, or gender can battle with these intrusive thoughts and feelings from time to time. In order to learn how to best cope with them we must first understand the scriptures that address these sentiments. As the Most High through his word answers all of our questions and addresses all of our spiritual and emotional needs. However, at the heart of the matter lies one main concept we forget from time to time.

Colossians 3:17 KJVS

[17] And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Above anything else, the center of our commitment is understanding that what we do, in both word and deed; voiced and performed; is all supposed to be done on behalf of Christ and the Most High. It is only when we lose sight of this and we allow our minds to focus on other intrusive thoughts that we then open the doors to intrusive feelings. And now our hearts and minds are hijacked and re-wired; corruption has taken root.

Romans 12:1-2 KJVS

[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

You must convert your mind and spirit. Although, it may seem cliche, everyday you should be applying your mind to speak and perform as a living example; a living sacrifice. Need you go to the store, the gym, work, or even the movies. All things should be done in a godly way using the word as a filter. This effort, when consistently applied will blockout negative thoughts and feelings. As you begin to take control of your mind, reclaim your thoughts to align your actions to those that are pleasing to The Father, your will and desire will align to Him as well. And the things that oppose him will begin to drift away. It will never cease per say but it will fade.

Lamentations 3:39 KJVS

[39] Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

When we get weary from well doing, we also must recall why we are in this strange predicament. It is a byproduct of our captivity. Which is the culmination of everything we have sown. Making the reaping we now feel very bitter.

Deuteronomy 28:15 KJVS

[15] But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Channel this energy and direct this negative mental bandwidth at the application of righteousness. To do all you can day in and day out to keep yourself on the path.

Isaiah 55:11 KJVS

[11] So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Any work you do for the words sake; for righteousness sake, could never return void. It is not your work more than it is the work you do on behalf of another. You are spiritually hired to do a spiritual job. And you have a spiritual boss, who pays you in spiritual currency. A job you work to receive an everlasting retirement. Don’t allow the adversary to cloud your vision and make you lose sight of that. To overly focus on your fellow man and what they are doing or not. Which should not sway you. No matter if they do well or poorly it does not change why you serve and who you serve.

Philippians 2:16 KJVS

[16] Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Sometimes we can become discouraged on this journey and can feel like others may not give credit where credit is due, as well as overlook our labor. But we must see the bigger picture; we have a purpose, a mission and an end goal. You are looking forward to rejoicing with Christ. That is, receiving the kingdom of heaven. And this is given because we earned it through our labor. But if you labor not then is your walk in vain. As you cannot obtain that in which you have not yet worked for. But if you work, then you will obtain. As long as you work righteously.

Colossians 3:23 KJVS

[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Whatever you decide to labor to do, do it with passion. Do it with a sincere desire of love that you bestow upon the Most High. Not to please a camp or camp leader. As they are only fellow laborers. But to please the one who called you and chose you as a servant laboring for a reward.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-16 KJVS

[13] This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: [14] There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: [15] Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. [16] Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

Man may forget your works. Man may not make mention of your labors or sacrifice. And sometimes man may not even remember your name. But the Most High God, he will never forget. And in the time of visitation he will count all of your good deeds as alms. As a signet of your righteousness and excellence.

Colossians 3:23-24 KJVS

[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; [24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

You must know that it is not by the will of man, nor within his power to bestow upon you the reward of the kingdom. But rather it is only by The Most High and Christ that you will receive it. So it must needs be Him that you please, for it is Him that you serve. So do it for the Lord!

Colossians 3:25 KJVS

[25] But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
